Orchard Park, NY - Dr. Simmons is a board-certified ophthalmologist and refractive cataract surgeon, dedicated to providing exceptional eye care to his patients.
Dr. Simmons began his journey in the medical field after graduating from the Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Biology. He then worked in an HIV vaccine development laboratory at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. During this time, he completed a Master's Degree in Biomedical Science at Tufts University School of Medicine. Dr. Simmons went on to obtain his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine, graduating top of his class with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. As a medical student, he was awarded the Massachusetts Medical Scholar scholarship and multiple awards for citizenship.
Following his education, Dr. Simmons completed his internal medicine internship and ophthalmology residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Throughout his training, Dr. Simmons published papers on various topics in ophthalmology and presented his work at the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
Dr. Simmons is a member of several prestigious medical organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the Medical Society of New York State. His clinical interests include refractive cataract surgery to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism, dry eye, glaucoma, and eyelid surgery.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Simmons enjoys spending time with his family, roasting coffee, cooking, and playing guitar.
